Response to Dallas Shooting

This is my response to the shootings in Dallas that happened recently. I live in the DFW metroplex so I’ve been near where the shootings happened many times. We all hear of tragic/horrific acts happening all over the world but I feel like it doesn’t really hit us as “real” until it takes place where you are. I was devastated to hear that police officers and other innocents were shot in the protest. People have the right to protest. It’s in the constitution. In fact, the police at the protest and the protesters were together peacefully when the shooting began. Guys, the police ran TOWARD the gunshots in order to protect the other protestors and innocents around them. That is real bravery. An innocent cop being killed is just as bad as an innocent civilian being shot by a cop. Jon Stewart commented saying, “You can truly grieve for every officer who’s been lost in the line of duty in this country, and still be troubled by cases of police overreach. Those two ideas are not mutually exclusive. You can have great regard for law enforcement and still want them to be held in high standards.”
Thank you to the police for your sacrifices, I am eternally grateful for your service and work. Here are some really powerful quotes and scripture verses to reflect upon as these horrors are among us:

Darkness cannot drive out darkness: only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate: only love can do that.” -Martin Luther King Jr.

I have decided to stick with love. Hate is too great a burden to bear.” -Martin Luther King Jr.

More than cleverness, we need kindness and gentleness.” -Charlie Chaplin

Nothing is permanent in this wicked world. Not even our troubles.” -Charlie Chaplin

John‬ ‭16:33 “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”

‭‭‬ ‭James‬ ‭1:20 “because human anger does not produce the righteousness that God desires.

Guys! We need to be the church to the world! We need to act like CHRIST and love each other and be compassionate. Jesus was TORTURED and DIED for people who hate and disrespect Him. Murder is murder. It doesn’t matter who commits it. Please guys, remember “Kindness is a language that the deaf can hear & the blind can see” -Mark Twain
